About SLADC
Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation which was incorporated in 1969 by the government extra ordinary gazette notification No. 14853/1 dated 11May 1969 under the provision of State Industrial Corporation Act. No. 49 of 1957 as the pioneer of manufacturing and marketing of Ayurvedic Drugs to the government hospitals, Ayurvedic physicians and private sector has been playing the major role in health sector in Sri Lanka for more than 40 years.
It must be stated that local as well as foreign consumers have good faith and better perception on Ayurvedic medicines produced by the Corporation. As a policy, the Corporation is mainly focused on quality of medicines and service to the general public rather than operating as a business entity. The main objectives in establishing the corporation
- Carrying on the business of manufacture, sale and distribution of Ayurvedic drugs and pharmaceuticals and Ayurvedic medicinal preparations.
- Import of Ayurvedic, Siddha and Unani (both raw and manufactured drugs)
- Purchase of locally produced raw Ayurvedic drugs and the processing of such drugs.
- Pharmacological and pharmaceutical research in Ayurvedic drugs and the standardization of such drugs.
- Maintaining Ayurvedic herbaria and the production of indigenous varieties of Ayurvedic herbs required for the manufacture of drugs.
- Establishment and maintenance of dairies for the purpose of obtaining pure cow milk and the production of pure cow ghee necessary for the manufacture of Ayurvedic drugs.
- Understanding bee farming and the production of bee honey required for the preparation of Ayurvedic drugs and the development of bee farming as a cottage industry.
